John Coy

We had an awesome opportunity to learn all about being an author.  John Coy visited our school and presented to our class on Monday.
Mrs. Retzer did a fantastic job of organizing the John Coy visit.  Before his visit, she also read many of the books he has published to the students.
Here Mr. Coy is showing us his first copy of Night Driving.  We learned how an author has to work on their story over and over again to get it just right.
John Coy also read us his story Hoop Genius.  Thank you so much for your visit Mr. Coy!  We enjoyed it!

The Doorbell Rang

We read the story The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins.  It was definitely a class favorite!  We had a nice surprise when the high school students came down to act it out for us.
Do you see Santa?  He was even at the door when the doorbell rang!
After the high school students acted it out, we had a chance to do it.  It sure was fun!

November 17th Newsletter

Nonfiction Text Features

We have been busy learning about text features in all the nonfiction books we are reading.  Today we had a scavenger hunt and looked in our book to see if it had captions, photographs, headings, table of contents, and labels.
Here we are searching for text features in our books.

Teeny Tiny

We LOVED the story Teeny Tiny and had so much fun when the high school students came down and read it to us.  They even asked for some helpers as we acted it out.
 We helped read the story.
Here we are playing the part of the teeny tiny woman.

Ready Confetti

It was great to meet all of you at Open House.  I'm very excited to start school next week.  You will have fun reading the poem that goes with your ready confetti Monday night.  Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer vacation!  See you soon!
