School Wide Bingo

We filled the shield...that means it's time for BINGO!!!
We had a TON of fun playing!  Our class was lucky enough to win a basketball and ice cream treats!  Great job of following our expectations at MAES!

The Doorbell Rang

We read the story The Doorbell Rang this week in first grade.  Today some high school helpers came down and we watched them act it out.
We were very excited to see who was ringing the doorbell.  Do you see Santa?!?!  He was even at the door!
Next, the first graders had a chance to act out the story.  We had a lot of fun retelling the story together.

Teeny Tiny

We read the story Teeny Tiny and had a really great time with it!  We were able to practice sequencing and using expression as we read.  Later in the week we had a visit from some high school students.  We all enjoyed watching them act out the story.  When they were done, the first graders had a chance to do it too.
 "GIVE ME MY BONE!"
One of the first graders helped read the story.
Here we are acting it out.

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun time dressing up for Halloween and trick-or-treating around the classroom.  Happy Halloween!

Author's Celebration

We have been busy writing up a storm during writer's workshop.  Students have been working on narrative writing.  We had fun deciding which piece of writing we wanted to publish in our folder.

We practiced revising our story and learned how to edit our writing as well.  Here we are during our Author's Celebration.

When we were done sharing our stories, we added them to our classroom library.  Great work authors!

Fundations

We used our magnetic tile boards in Fundations.  Today we were putting the letters of the alphabet in order.

 Look at that concentration!

Magic Play Dough

On the first day of school we read a poem called Magic Play Dough.
Everyone got some white play dough, we made some predictions, and began to mix it up.
We were excited to see the bright colors appear!
Now we know for sure, it's going to be a great school year!
